WHEN IN THE DAYS: Digable Planets

Pro-black jazz infused hip-hop trio formed in the early 90's. Digable Planets known to have created one of the best jazz hiphop fusion in music released two albums, Reachin' (A New Refutation of Time and Space) and the socio-politically conscious Blowout Comb. With the release of their single "Rebirth of Slick (Cool Like Dat)" the song became a Top 20 pop hit and eventually earning them a Grammy for Best New Duo or Group. Digable Planets eventually broke up due to creative difference but their music still lives on and continues to show how jazz and hiphop can be performed in the same platform. The group included Ishmael"Butterfly" Butler, Mary Ann "Ladybug" Vieira and Craig "Doodlebug" Irving.
